ISSUES:

1. Whether or not the 2012 summer school program recommended by Student’s Planning and Placement Team was appropriate or would result in the denial of a Free Appropriate Public Education to Student; and

2. Whether or not the Planning and Placement Team’s refusal to provide additional/increased speech services to Student during the summer of 2012 was appropriate or would result in the denial of a Free Appropriate Public Education to Student.

SUMMARY:

On May 11, 2012 the West Hartford Board of Education received a Request for a Special Education Due Process Hearing; the undersigned hearing officer was appointed on the same date. A prehearing conference was scheduled for May 22, 2012. Before the appointed time for the prehearing conference on May 22, 2012, Parent notified the hearing officer that the Parent was withdrawing the hearing request without prejudice.

FINAL DECISION AND ORDER:

In light of the above facts, the case is dismissed without prejudice.
