SUMMARY and PROCEDURAL HISTORY:
The Student is a 14 year and 1 month old young man who has been identified as an Autistic student requiring special education and related services as defined in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 20 U.S.C. §1401 et seq. and Connecticut General Statute §10-76a. The Parents rejected the Board’s program for the Student for the 2007- 2008 school year and requested placement of the Student at Hope Academy. The Board rejected the Parents’ request. On or about August 3, 2007, the Parent sent the Board a letter advising them that they were requesting a Due Process hearing.
On or about August 29, 2007 a pre-hearing conference was held and an October 17, 2007 hearing date was chosen by the parties. On September 26, 2007, the parties mediated the matter.
As a result of the mediation, the parties came to an agreement. The hearing officer was advised that the matter was withdrawn with prejudice. The request for withdrawal with prejudice of the due process hearing was granted.
The date for mailing of the Final Decision and Order is November 17, 2007.
FINAL DECISION AND ORDER:
THE MATTER IS DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE.
