PROCEDURAL HISTORY/SUMMARY:
On 2/22/18, the Student initiated this special education due process case, and this Impartial Hearing Officer was assigned to this case. A Prehearing Conference was convened on 3/5/18. Attorney Griswold appeared on behalf of the Student and Attorney Sullivan appeared on behalf of the Board of Education. It was established that the deadline for filing the final decision in this case was 5/8/18. An evidentiary hearing was scheduled for 5/7/18.
On 3/9/18, Attorney Griswold requested a postponement of the first hearing date in order to accommodate mediation. On 3/19/18, the undersigned hearing officer granted same, and scheduled a new hearing date for 5/24/18. Subsequently, on 5/22/18, Attorney Griswold requested a second postponement of the first hearing date to accommodate settlement negotiations. On 5/23/18, this Impartial Hearing Officer denied said request pursuant to Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies §10-76h-9(e).
On 5/24/18, this Impartial Hearing Officer commenced the first hearing date. Attorney Griswold and Attorney Sullivan did not appear.
ORDER:
The matter is DISMISSED with prejudice.
